I was approached by a profitable FM company to undertake a strategic review. The business was at a crossroads as a number of highly profitable contracts were due to end. Management needed to find a new sense of direction. 

I used a thorough process based on the well known "Double Diamond" technique. Firstly we researched both the FM market and the state of the major FM companies. I used this to develop some key insights - what sectors were growing and what were the main trends in terms of profitability. 

I then developed a detailed competitive position for the company and used this to create an assessment framework for scoring new ideas. 

I held a brainstorming workshop with the client and this generated many ideas for the future of the company. These were then scored against the framework to generate a long list of viable ideas. These ideas coalesced around 4 main themes - some of them were extensions of what the company was already doing, whilst others would take the company into new directions.
